Affordable Housing Month 2022 May 2022

Every year, HLC and our partners dedicate the month of May to affordable housing. Through multiple events scattered throughout the month, we engage hundreds of housing supporters around San Mateo County to collectively learn, mobilize, and understand the positive and extensive impact affordable housing brings. We do this by offering the opportunity of attending informative workshops, groundbreakings, housing policy panels, affordable housing tours, and more. Most of all, we come together to recognize the ongoing efforts and power of our local partners and communities.

What level of Houser are you? Events are classified based on level of houser:

Intro/Social = New to affordable housing advocacy and policy

Proficient = Some knowledge of affordable housing advocacy and policy

Advanced = Extensive knowledge of affordable housing advocacy and policy


Event Recaps

After a 2 year hiatus, we returned with our in-person event at Fieldworks, San Mateo. Attendees got together to network and to tour Bridge Housing’s Montara, a 100% affordable 68-unit development in San Mateo! Residents of Montara shared their power, lived experience.

Last Tuesday, we learned from some of the Bay Area’s preeminent housing experts about how our cities can plan for affordable housing and what steps we can take to ensure affordable and accessible housing for generations to come! 

We got together with affordable housing finance leaders to discuss strategies for increasing the production of Extremely Low Income (ELI) housing! 

Grand opening for 117 new affordable homes at Midpen Housing’s Arroyo Green in Redwood City!

Joined HEART of San Mateo County in their annual Networking and Fundraising Event. Attendees enjoyed drinks and food, honored Supervisor Don Horsley and celebrated affordable homes!
