Program Overview
The Housing Leadership Council is proud to announce that our first Housing Advocacy Training has officially kicked off! This six-week program is designed to equip faith and community leaders throughout San Mateo County with the skills and knowledge needed to:
- Prevent displacement.
- Preserve existing homes.
- Produce new housing opportunities.

Program Goals
By the end of the training, participants will:
- Understand the basics of housing policy and advocacy strategies for local governments.
- Develop connections with fellow advocates and resources within the housing movement.
- Feel confident engaging in public advocacy, including delivering public comments at city council meetings, writing public communications, lobbying city council members, and teaching others to advocate for affordable housing.
Program Highlights:
- Week 1 & 2: Introduction to housing policy.
- Week 3 – 5: Organizing and advocacy strategies.
- Week 6: Real-world policy campaigns in San Mateo County.
