Housing Leadership Council offers several opportunities for housing advocates to get involved and help shape our work in San Mateo County. By joining one of our committees, you can play an active role in building support for affordable homes, organizing events, guiding policy, or fundraising. Whether you bring lived experience, professional expertise, or simply a passion for housing, there’s a space for you to engage.

We welcome HLC members to express interest in the following committees:

• Policy Committee — Advisory body to our board for policy direction and strategy. The focus is to build consensus among the housing community and provide direction to HLC staff and board members. The committee consists of dues-paying members passionate about the need for affordable homes, with lived experience and/or expertise in varied aspects of housing in San Mateo communities. • Events Planning Committee — Helps shape Affordable Housing Month and Housing Leadership Day themes, identify speakers and workshop facilitators, solicit sponsors, design networking opportunities, and ensure the events drive meaningful action for housing advocacy in our region.

• Fundraising Committee — Oversees the planning, development, management, and implementation of the annual fundraising plan to ensure the financial viability and stability of the organization. This committee develops fundraising strategies, cultivates donors, organizes fundraising events, and manages various fundraising activities aimed at generating financial support for our mission.
