Jaina-Marie Pebenito, Fundraising & Events Manager

Housing Story:

During the first few years of my childhood, my family moved around from different apartments in Daly City and South San Francisco. As a child, I spent countless hours playing next to the pond in Serramonte Mall with my Lolo (grandmother), enjoying the community despite my family’s housing struggles.  Watching my dad ensure a grueling 2-3 hour commute every day, on top of driving another 8 hours for his job as a SamTrans Bus Driver, was a constant reminder of the sacrifices my parents had to make due to these struggles.
Although my family eventually moved to the East Bay, I feel a deep connection with the San Mateo County Community through connections with my friends and family who still live there.

My family’s experience with housing instability inspired me to fight for Affordable Housing solutions in San Mateo County. My goal now is to make a difference for people struggling with housing insecurity in the community I first called home.
